Alexander C. Boriss was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and grew up in Miami. After graduating in 1967 with a BA from Stetson University, he joined a steamship agency and stevedoring company. He spent 35 years in the industry, enjoying many senior executive positions with shore-based service companies. Eventually, he earned the position of Executive Vice President at a well-respected container carrier serving Puerto Rico from Florida ports.
In 1974, Mr. Boriss was licensed as a real estate salesman, and shortly after, he became a broker. For three years in the late 1970s, he actively sold property and managed real estate brokerage firms. His career in real estate finance began in 1997 when we started working as a loan officer for a small lender in Jacksonville. After leading another lender's branch, he decided to found Oak Street in 2003 with a lender's license and a license to issue FHA and VA loans. During the economic downturn of 2008, he was able to keep Oak Street going strong.
In his personal life, Mr. Boriss is a lifelong sailor and boating enthusiast. In addition to being a licensed mortgage broker, real estate instructor, and real estate broker, he is a licensed private pilot and ASA sailing instructor. He is also the part-time captain of the SeaTow of Jacksonville, Inc. He has been happily married since 1965 and has two daughters and four grandchildren.
